About Us
Vote YES in November to add two members to the Dallas County Board of Supervisors!
We have had 3 Supervisors since 1846, when Dallas County became a county. But we have now grown to the 6th largest county in Iowa and have doubled in size in the last 20 years.
Over 5,000 eligible voters of Dallas County, Iowa, have petitioned the Dallas County Board of Supervisors to add a proposition on the November ballot to increase the number of Supervisors to 5.

Why Increase to 5 County Supervisors?
REASON 1
Dallas County is one of the fastest growing counties in the U.S. and the 6th largest county in Iowa.
Most of the largest counties in Iowa are represented by 5 supervisors.
REASON 2
County government is complex (see here).

Increasing the number of supervisors with additional points of view can contribute significantly to decision making.
REASON 3
The current estimated population of Dallas County is 108,000, so there are 36,000 residents to each supervisor. This number is larger than many state legislative districts and only getting larger as we grow.
REASON 4
As Dallas County grows, the service needs have changed significantly.

As we have additional and more diverse needs, the structure and governance will need to change to provide direction and oversight.
REASON 5
The cities in Dallas County are unique and different. The needs of Waukee are different than Adel and different than Woodward and Granger. Growing the Board can help ensure all cities, no matter the size, receive proper representation.
REASON 6
With just 3 members of the Board, there may be opportunities for Supervisors to communicate outside of Open Meetings and make decisions. Expanding membership may reduce that communication and support transparency.
